Minimum Bachelor?s (BA or BS) in Psychology

Preferably minimum 6 months of internship required

The tasks a Psychologist is expected to perform include:

Studying mental, emotional and cognitive characteristics of human beings and determining principles which govern human behaviour

Investigating factors that affect thought and conduct of human beings, and growth and development of individual personality characteristics such as heredity, cultural and economic environments, etc.

Dealing with psychological problems involved in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental illness, emotional and personality disorders

Conducting personal interviews or examining individuals to determine their maladjustment and suggesting corrective measures

Developing psychological tests and experiments designed to measure mental characteristics of human beings

Administering psychological and other tests to evaluate and measure an individual?s intelligence, aptitude, ability, interests and other personal characteristics

Formulating methods to train gifted or physically and mentally handicapped persons and children

Skilled in assessing client/patient behaviour

Familiar with the techniques of concise writing

Knowledge of research methods like experimental and observational methods, survey and sampling techniques, etc.

Detailed knowledge of principles of psychometric measurement, questionnaire design and how to develop other measurement tools

In-depth knowledge of behavioural theories and their application

Familiar with theories of social communication and the potential sources of interpersonal conflict

Knowledge of different types of personality, interests, learning and motivation

Skilled in assessing and treating behavioural and affective disorders

Knowledge of principles, methods and procedures for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions and for career counselling and guidance
