The tasks a Manager, Nursery is expected to perform include:Managing nursery to grow horticultural plants, such as trees, shrubs, flowers, ornamental plants, vegetables, etc., for sale

Determining type and quantity of horticultural plants to be grown according to various factors and market demand

Identifying the conditions required for different plants like hothouse/greenhouse/ natural weather

Managing various processes like plant germination, soil conditions, plant nutrients and disease control

Selecting and purchasing seed, disease control chemicals, fertilizers, etc.Touring work areas to observe quality and quantity of work being done

Directing and co-ordinating work of subordinate supervisory personnel and other workers

Co-ordinating clerical, record keeping, accounting and marketing activities

Purchasing nursery stock for resale and sell other gardening accessories, such as sprays, garden implements, plant nutrients, etc.

Knowledge of different types of plants, trees, flowers, etc. and their requirements

Proficient in nursery management

Knowledge of various nursery activities like seed sowing, preparing beds/pots for plantation, nutrient management, disease management, drafting of plants, etc.

Equipped to assimilate market information

Specialize in fertilization, mineral nutrition, propagation and selection

Skilled in marketing and sales

Knowledge ofthe latest development and technology in the field

Knowledge of collecting seeds from plants

Skilled in green-house and hot-house operations

Knowledge of maintaining records of cost, sale and other accounts

Basic knowledge of arithmetic and accounting

Efficient in hiring and supervising the workers

Knowledge of basic computer skills and spreadsheets
