Minimum 12th pass

Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant field

The tasks a Knitter, Machine is expected to perform include:

Operating one or more machines that knit seamless circular or tubular fabric from yarn

Placing filled cones of yarn on stand of the machine

Threading ends of yarn from cones through guides, tension springs and feeders

Turning cylinder by handle so that yarn is caught by latches of all needles in cylinder

Watching for defects in knitting

Replacing empty cones with full ones and joining ends

Removing knitted fabric by cutting it with scissors

Cleaning and oiling the machine

Replacing broken or defective needles and sinkers

Knowledge of all designs of textile products

Skilled in determining the right size of product that is to be knitted

Knowledge of basic repairing of machine

Ability to remove any defect

Skilled in making new variety of patterns on the fabric

Ability to create own designs and patterns

ITI training

Hardworking

Good hand-eye co-ordination

Attention to detail

Team player

It is not a desk job

Need not handle a team

Local travelling is not a part of this job role

Part-time work and contractual jobs maybe available

Working hours

Companies usually work for 6/7 days a week and 9/10 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

Textile and Handloom Sector in India

The Indian textile industry is one the most important industries for the Indian economy. Its importance is underlined by the fact that it accounts for around 4% of GDP, 14% of the industrial production and 17% of the country?s total export earnings. India is the second largest producer of textiles and garments in the world. The Indian textiles and apparel industry is expected to grow to a size of US$ 223 billion by 2021. The sector contributes about 14 per cent to industrial production, 4 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and 27 per cent to the country's foreign exchange inflows. The textile sector has witnessed a spurt in investment during the last five years. Therefore, the career as a Knitter, Machine has a bright future and opportunities are only going to rise in coming time.
