Rotating Wood Wool Shredding Machine Operator

The tasks a Wood Wool Machine Operator is expected to perform include:

Setting and operating wood wool machine for reducing soft wooden stock into long thin fibres commonly used as packing material

Selecting appropriate cutting tools and mounting them on cutter head

Fixing cutter head in machine and adjusting wood stock to tool post

Starting machine to move wood piece to and fro against cutters and moving cam by hand to control speed of tool post to cut fibres of desired thinness from wood stock

Checking fineness of fibres and adjusting operation as required

Knowledge of cutting or trimming wood to specified dimensions

Well-versed in monitoring machines, adjusting speed and tension and clearing jams to ensure proper operation

Proficient in examining logs or lumber to plan the best use

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Knowledge of different types of wood such as Teak, Sheesham, Mango, Rosewood, Plywood and Particular Wood

Knowledge of cleaning and oiling machine

Knowledge of sharpening or replacing dull blades

Ability to operate other wood working machines

Ability to follow instructions

Physically fit

Good hand-eye coordination

Attention to detail

Problem solving skills

Motor skills

Ability to focus for long hours

It needs one to be on their toes

Need not handle a team

Local travelling is not a part of this job role

Wood & carpentry units usually work for 6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from unit to unit
