Separator Man

Cream Man (Dairy)

The tasks a Separator Man is expected to perform include:

Operating the milk separator to separate the cream from the milk

Assembling and adjusting the separator according to the type of product for which the separated cream or milk is to be used

Placing empty containers below the cream and skimmed outlets

Pouring milk into the separator

Switching on the centrifugal machine which automatically carries milk into the bowl and separates milk into fat and skimmed milk

Regulating the separator to obtain the required percentage of cream for making butter or ghee

Cleaning the plant using hot water, soda and other detergent solutions

Attending to the pasteurizing plant

Knowledge of relevant tools and equipment

Knowledge of safety and hygiene regulations

Knowledge of the densities of milk and cream

Basic knowledge of fermentation and microbiology

Familiar with the milk requirements for different products

Skilled in processes like pasteurization, fermentation, etc.

Ability to handle the routine maintenance and cleaning of the machines
