Freshers or up to 2 years of work experience as painter in construction industry

The tasks a Painter, Steel Structure is expected to perform include:

Applying lead oxide, bituminous and other protective or decorative paints on steel framework of building, hangers, girders, bridges and other steel structure with hand brush or spray gun

Ensuring that the steel objects get the desired shade, colour and finishing

Proficient in mixing paint with colouring matter, linseed oils and other substances in proper proportions to obtain desired colour, shade and consistency

Well-versed with rubbing and cleaning metal surface to be painted with wire brush, coir or other abrasive material to provide clean smooth surface for painting

Adept at stirring readymade paints in containers and mixing turpentine with it for thinning

Proficient in applying paint on metal surfaces with hand brush or spray gun

Knowledge of burning off old paint with blow lamp and scraping surfaces before painting with sand paper

Adept at selecting correct type of paint or protective material based on suitability, durability, ease of application and cost

Well-versed with applying one or more coat of paint material to get required finishing

Adept at examining finished surfaces of work to verify conformance to specifications; and retouching any defective areas

Well-versed with erecting scaffolds, cradles, ladders and other equipment to facilitate work

Knowledge of inspecting work pieces to determine work procedures and materials required

Construction industry in India is highly unorganized and employs most labourers, second only to the agriculture sector.
