Glass Setter

The tasksa Glazier, (Construction) is expected to perform include: Cuts glass panes or plates torequired size and shape and sets them intodoors, windows, skylights, show-cases,partition of buildings etc. using hand tools

Measures frame where glass is to be fixed andselects required type of glass sheet

Marksglass according to measurements, cuts it alongmarkings and smoothens edges using handtools

Mixes chemical ingredients in setproportions to prepare putty for fixing glass

Cleans frame in which glass pane is to be fixedand secures it in frame with nails, metal springor spring clips

Applies putty evenly on edgesfirmly to secure glass pane on frame andsmoothens with blunt knife or otherwise toensure desired finish

May fix glass in metalframes by providing rubber lining

Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings

Good balance and hand-eye coordination

Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

Knowledge of how to use and care for equipment
