Previous relevant work experience

The tasks a Stone Dresser, Hand is expected to perform include:

Chipping and chiselling stones to required size and shape

Joining surface using hand tools

Examining and selecting blocks of granite, marble or other stone

Placing the blocks in working position

Measures the blocks with measuring instruments

Marking the blocks according to specification for cutting

Chipping off unwanted portions

Sprinkling water over stone to serve as coolant

Finishing it to required size and shape

Checking size and shape frequently while chipping

Drilling holes, if required

Competent in drilling holes and grooves in stone, according to diagrams and patterns

Knowledge of selecting chisels, pneumatic or surfacing tools and determining sequence of use

Competent in copying drawings on rough stone

Knowledge of using scribes or chalk and measuring instruments

Ability to use hammers, chisels and power tools

Knowledge of drilling holes in stone, if required

Ability to cut decorative designs on stone surfaces

Good hand-eye co-ordination

Ability to follow instructions

Attention to detail

Time management skills

Team player

Physically fit
