Relevant experience in tree trimming and pruning

The tasks a Tree Trimmer and Pruner is expected to perform include:

Cutting dead or excess branches from trees or shrubs

Maintaining right-of-way for roads, sidewalks and utilities

Improving appearance, health and value of trees or shrubs

Pruning trees/shrubs using handsaws, pruning hooks, sheers and clippers

Filling cavities in trees to promote healing and to prevent deterioration

Climbing hooks or ladders to gain access to work area, if required

Scraping decayed matter from cavities in trees

Filling the cavities with cement to promote healing and to prevent further deterioration

Applying tar or other protective substances to cut surfaces, to seal them against insects

Knowledge of pruning requirements of different trees/shrubs

Skilled in operating tools for pruning and trimming

Proficient in pruning techniques

Familiar in operating climb truck-mounted lifts and power pruners

Skilled in recognising dead branches or other problem areas

Skilled in insect management and prevention techniques

Knowledge of techniques to keep trees healthy

Ability to visualize and trim trees in attractive shapes
