E-Learning Market Trends in India

With the rapid growth in internet, mobile, and cloud technologies in the past decade, the popularity and capabilities of e-learning continue to grow worldwide. According to a report by Docebo, the content market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 18.4 per cent from FY 2014 to FY 2018. With Indian internet users expected to cross 250 million this year, India's potential as a huge market for e-learning is unchallenged.

The government has taken strong initiatives in using IT to create an access for the lower strata of the society towards education and growth of Massively Open Online Courses (MOOC). This has presented infinite possibilities for adoption of e-learning platforms in primary and secondary education to empower the economically weaker segments.

According to another report, India?s online education market size is set to grow to $40 billion by 2017 from the current $20 billion. Universities are seeing more students access their coursework from outside the traditional classroom. Moreover, Indian companies are adopting e-learning platforms as continuous employee learning has become a strategic necessity. e-Learning is an efficient and cost-effective solution when an organisation has a wide geographically distributed workforce and there is a need to train quickly on relevant knowledge and skills.

The demand for IT coordinators is wide as educational institutions and other companies require them for the upkeep of e-learning platform. They play a significant role to coordinate various departments in getting the course content ready to be delivered to learners.
