Minimum Diploma in Interior Design

Previous relevant work experience

The tasks an Interior Designer is expected to perform include: Planning, designing, and furnishing interiors of residential, commercial, or industrial buildings

Formulating design which is practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended purposes Estimating material requirements and costs, and presenting design to client for approval Conferring with clients to determine factors affecting planning interior environments

Advising client on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and utilisation of furnishings and equipment, and colour coordination Selecting or designing and purchasing furnishings, art works, and accessories

Subcontracting fabrication, installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, art work, furniture, and related items Rendering design ideas in form of paste-ups or drawings Planning and designing interior environments for boats, planes, buses, trains, and other enclosed spaces

Expertise in technical drawing

Knowledge about client management, innovate design concepts and sustainable design solutions

Well versed with concept presentations through 2D and 3D renderings and design drawings

Knowledge of the selection of materials, colour palettes, furniture, lighting, flooring, wall coverings artwork, signage and branding

Ability to communicate with PMC, vendors and contractors and ensure adherence to design concepts and construction details and support for timely completion of projects

Knowledge of architecture
