Minimum Graduate in any discipline

Minimum of 7 - 8 years of experience in jewellery sales

The tasks a Merchandiser is expected to perform include: Estimating the demand for product(s)Identifying the best vendor for every product category

Knowledge of precious metals such as gold, platinum, silver along with their characteristics and differences

Knowledge of various cartages and jewellery product offerings

Understanding of specialized Indian jewellery such as kundan, jadau, kolhapuri, stamping, etc., their uniqueness and where they can be procured

Knowledge of various types of jewellery-making processes such as handmade, casting, machine made, electroforming, etc.

Detailed knowledge of different types of finishing and soldering techniques and their benefits

Knowledge of different types of diamonds, precious stones, semi-precious stones including pearls and their characteristics

Knowledge of the 4Cs of diamonds such as cut, clarity, carat and colour

Understanding of the different types of settings in diamond jewellery

Knowledge of the jewellery preferences of customers from different geographies or communities

Ability to identify different parts, making techniques, etc. From the visual inspection of jewellery

Ability to calculate the approximate cost of jewellery through visual inspection

Knowledge of various vendors in the country and abroad, their uniqueness, terms and conditions, etc.

Knowledge of the demographics of the population around the store

Understanding of competition, their product offerings, their vendors, their terms, etc.

Knowledge of general trends such as seasonality effects, the gold price and festivals to estimate demand

Ability to forecast and estimate the product requirement considering various parameters for jewellery product sales

Basic understanding of finance, budgeting, accounting and data analysis

Keen eye for trends
