The tasks a Statistical Assistant is expected to perform include:

Collecting, compiling and scrutinizing statistical data and arranging it in a systematic manner to facilitate its analysis, interpretation and presentation

Checking collected data for consistency and reducing quantitative data to a convenient form by making statistical calculations

Analyzing data to find out dispersion and magnitude of errors

Attending to computation for advanced statistical calculations

Arranging analyzed data in the proper order in charts, graphs, diagrams, etc. for interpretation and publication

Conducting field investigations to collect data as per the prescribed schedule

Writing reports of investigations

Supervising the work of investigators and guiding them when necessary

Operating calculating machines

Skilled in forming and compiling statistics

Skilled in using computers

Ability to analyze data and find errors

Knowledge of troubleshooting the errors

Ability to prepare graphs, charts and diagrams for the purpose of interpretation and publication

Skilled in writing reports and presenting it in seminars and meetings

Skilled in assessing the organizations growth based on the study of statistics

In-depth knowledge of statistical methods
