Market Trend of Healthcare Sector in India

According to IBEF, the Indian healthcare industry is growing at a tremendous pace due to its strengthening coverage, services and increasing expenditure by public as well private players. The Indian Healthcare sector grew from$45 billionin 2008 to$81 billionin 2014 and is projected to continue its rapid expansion, with an estimated market value of US$ 280 billion by 2020. This sector has emerged as one of the largest service sectors with estimated revenue of around $ 30 billion constituting 5% of GDP.

As the healthcare sector is improving in India, a need for skilled nurses and Midwives is also increasing. India's healthcare has seen a lot of privatisation along with improving standards of government hospitals/dispensaries in the past decade. When it comes to achieving a normal birth and empowering the woman and family, midwives are the experts. Therefore, Midwife has a bright future in both government and private sector.
