Certified training for Histotechnician (programme aligned to HSS/Q 0401 released by Healthcare Sector Skill Council)

Preferred relevant work experience

The tasks an Histotechnician is expected to perform include: Processing and preparing tissue specimens

Preparing slides Demonstrating knowledge of tissues specimen, anatomy and dissection techniques

Well versed with the techniques to handle tissue specimens

Knowledge of using high quality wax

Familiarity with techniques of preserving tissues permanently

Ensuring minimal tissue damage

Proficiency in maintaining laboratory conditions

Well versed with computer applications like spreadsheets, Word, etc.Adept with the techniques of maintaining a file system

Knowledge of the processing sequence to ensure that dehydration, clearing and infiltration processes are complete

Eye for detail

Follows instructions

Accuracy

Good communication skills

Good judgment and dexterity

Occupational hazards include the possibility of contracting infectious diseases, headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, etc.Health risks include exposure to needle stick injuries, exposure to Xylene, etc.

For freshers - INR 7,500 to INR 9,000 per month For candidates with 1-2 yearsexperience - INR 10,000 to INR 12,000 per month(These figures are indicative and subject to change)
