Taxidermist

The tasks a Taxidermist is expected to perform include:

Preparing, stuffing and mounting skins of animals and birds in lifelike form

Removing skin from carcass of animal or bird using special knives, scissors etc., takingcare to preserve coat and skin and other outward features in their natural state

Applying preservative solutions to skin

Making artificial structure or body frame using wires, wood, papier-mŸch? or other media to cover preserved skin over it using special adhesives

Fitting artificial or real eyes, claws, teeth, etc. to specimen

Mounting prepared specimen on suitable pedestals

Knowledge of preparing, stuffing and mounting skins of animals and birds in lifelike form

Skilled at removing skin from carcass of animal or bird using special knives, scissors, etc.

Ability to make artificial structure or body frame using wires, wood, etc.

Proficient in fitting artificial or real eyes, claws, teeth etc. to specimen

Health risks include exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants, drugs, anaesthetic gases, solvents, paints, and compressed gases, potential exposures to allergens, working in wet locations, lifting, pushing, pulling, repetitive tasks, cuts and abrasions due to use of knives and sharp objects, etc.

For candidates with over 5 yearsexperience ?INR12,500 toINR15,000 per month
