According to the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, a study of the soil profile is important from crop husbandry point of view, since it reveals the surface and the sub-surface characteristic and qualities namely, depth, texture, structure, drainage conditions and soil moisture relationship which directly affect the plant growth. Owing to the different types of soil that are spread across the coastal areas as well as hilly terrains of India, the procedures aimed at determining its fertility have gained high importance. Considering the continuous growth and expansion of the agricultural activities in the Indian scenario, a continuous rise in employment opportunities for Laboratory Assistants, Soil is expected.
