Certified training for Junior Data Associate (programme aligned to SSC/Q0401 released by IT-ITe

Minimum 0-2 years of work experience/internship in Data Management or Analysis

The tasks a Junior Data Associate is expected to perform include:Designing and implementing processes and layouts for complex, large-scale data sets used for modeling, data mining, and research purposes

Designing and implementing statistical data quality procedures around new data sources

Well-versed with the objectives and scope of the analysis being undertaken and the importance of keeping the analysis within the given boundaries

Knowledge of different data sources and how to obtain information from them, including organisational databases, online data sources, research reports and secondary data

Proficient with data warehouse software for integrating data from disparate sources

Adept in accessing and applying tools, platforms and architecture available for handling big data

Well-versed with use of software tools for collating and cleaning data

Knowledge of different types of data analysis and associated outcomes available

Proficient in drawing inferences from analysis of data/information

Adept with methods and tools used tovalidatetheanalysis

Well-versed in presenting analysis and inferences in a structured way

Proficient in completing the work accurately and within appropriate timescale

Well-versed with current practice in data analysis

Courses in statistical tools and platforms like SQL, SPSS, SAS, STATA and/or Excel

Future Trends for IT-ITES Sector in India

IT-ITeS industry has been fuelling India?s growth story. In addition to contributing to the country?s Gross domestic Product (GDP) and exports, the industry has played a big role in influencing the socio-economic parameters across the country. The industry has helped provide employment and a good standard of living to millions. IT-ITeS industry has almost doubled in terms of revenue and contribution to India?s GDP over the last six years (2008-2013). Exports account for over 70% and domestic market accounts for 21% of the industry's revenue.

India?s acceptance as a preferred offshoring destination in the world is one of the main reason for the growth of export in Indian IT and ITES Industry. Again with the increased spending by Indian companies on IT and ITES services, domestic market will be a major area of growth in the future and it is expected to grow at 8% in the near term.

The major segments of the Industry are IT Services, BPO, and Engineering Services, R&D, and Products. The IT services segment is the largest contributor to the IT and ITES Industry, accounting for about 60% of industry revenues. India is one of the fastest-growing IT services markets in the world. It is also the world's largest sourcing destination,accounting for approximately 52 % of the US$ 124-130 billion market. The country's cost competitiveness in providing IT services continues to be its USP in the global sourcing market.

The major segments of the IT service sector are IT Consulting, Application Management, IS Outsourcing, Software development and support. The BFSI, telecom, retail, and manufacturing sectors account for major portion of the IT Services revenues. Based on the trends witnessed in productivity and the likely growth potential of the IT and ITES industry, it is expected that the industry would result in an incremental employment of about 7.5 million persons directly by 2022. Out of which 3.6 million job opportunities will be in IT service sector.

In the IT Exports segment, a large portion of the workforce is currently engineers and MCAs over 80%. The proportion of graduates of science and other streams engaged in software development is expected to show significant increase from about 5% to 10% currently to about 15% to 20%.
