The tasks a Quality Assurance Analyst (Computers) is expected to perform include:

Evaluating and testing new or modified software programmes and software development procedures used to verify that programmes function according to user requirements and conform to establishment guidelines

Writing, revising, and verifying quality standards and test procedures for programme design and product evaluation to attain quality of software economically and efficiently

Reviewing new or modified programme, including documentation, diagram, and flow-chart, to determine if programme will perform according to user request and conform to guidelines

Proficient in recommending programme improvements or corrections to programmers

Adept with reviewing computer-operating log to identify programme-processing errors

Knowledge of entering instructions into computer to test programme for validity of results, accuracy, reliability and conformance to establishment standards

Well-versed with observing computer monitor screen during programme test to detect error codes or interruption of programme and correcting errors

Proficient in identifying differences between establishment standards and user applications and suggesting modifications to conform to standards

Adept with setting up tests at request of user to locate and correct programme operating error following installation of programme

Knowledge of conducting compatibility tests with vendor-provided programmes

Well-versed with monitoring programme performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of programme operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation

Proficient in writing documentation to describe programme evaluation, testing, and correction

Knowledge of evaluating proposed software or software enhancement for feasibility

Knowledge of developing utility programme to test, track, and verify defects in software programme

Knowledge of writing programmes to create new procedures or modify existing procedures

Knowledge of training software programme users

Current Trends of IT & ITeS Sector in India

In 2012, the Indian IT & ITeS sector crossed the US$100 billion milestone; it grew by almost 1,000 times in the last two decades on the basis of cost arbitration, skill availability and government support. The sector is estimated to grow at an 11.5 percent CAGR over 2008-2013 to reach US$108.4 billion. The IT & ITeS industry is expected to reach US$300 billion by 2020 driven by rising demand in domestic market, along with increasing IT Services exports. The CAGR for 2013-2020 is estimated to be 16 percent.

In the IT Exports segment, a large portion of the workforce is currently engineers and MCAs over 80%. The proportion of graduates of science and other streams engaged in software development is expected to show significant increase from about 5% to 10% currently to about 15% to 20%.The Indian IT and ITES Industry would record about US $ 220 billion in exports and US $ 60 billion domestically by 2022, totaling to about US $ 260 billion growing at a CAGR of 12.8%.

The sector provides indirect employment to about 9.5 million people. The sector is expected to employ about 5.1 million professionals directly in FY22 and exports are likely to continue to dominate.This would definitely lead to an increase in employment opportunities of Quality Assurance Analyst (Computers) across towns and cities in India.
