The tasks a Health Officer is expected to perform include:

Planning and executing curative and preventive measures against epidemics and infectious diseases

Maintaining sanitary conditions according to prescribed standards

Promoting community efficiency of physical, mental and social health standards

Checking food adulteration and prosecuting offenders

Supervising medical facilities provided through hospitals, dispensaries, child welfare and maternity centres

Regulating, restricting and controlling sale of eatables and working conditions in cinemas, factories and public places

Organising anti epidemic measures for prevention and control of infectious diseases and epidemics

Ensuring safe water supply for drinking and other purposes

Ensuring safe disposal ofdead bodies,refuse and excreta

Initiating special campaignsto spread knowledge about health and hygiene andinfectious diseases

Skilled in performing clinical tests of food and water

Knowledge of Ministry of Health (Mo

H) policies and general system of health management

Knowledge of legal procedures regarding health policies

Knowledge of hygiene measures to be taken by food companies and eating joints, etc.Skilled in implementing pollution control measures
