The tasks a Package Designer is expected to perform include:

Designing containers for products, such as foods, beverages, toiletries, cigarettes and medicines

Dealing with representatives of other departments to determine packaging requirements

Identifying the type of product market

Sketching design of container for specific product considering various factors

Minimising production costs

Rendering design including exterior markings and labels

Fabricating models in paper, metal ,etc. according to the material to be used for packaging

Using paints and brushes with art and creativity for best results

Knowledge of fabricating model in paper, wood, glass, plastic or metal

Knowledge of packing requirements for different types of products

Familiar with safety requirements for different products

Knowledge of using computer designing software

Ability to generate effective hand-drawn sketches

Equipped in performing market research for determining target market of the product

Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles

Knowledge of raw material, production processes, quality control and costs involved

Skilled in supporting the maintenance and development of quality management system
