Electronic Components Segment in India

The Indian semiconductor industry offers high growth potential as the areas where semiconductors are extensively used are themselves high growth areas. According to the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), nearly 2,000 chips are being designed every year in India and more than 20,000 engineers are working on various aspects of chip design and verification.

The Indian semiconductor design market is expected to touch US$ 14.5 billion in 2015.

According to the "Human Resource and Skill Requirements in the Electronics & IT Hardware Sector (2022)" report, the Electronic Components sector is expected to grow by 19% till 2022 which is going to be higher than the GDP in India. The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India has listed Active Components as one of the top 14 sub-sectors with a high potential for employment. This will have a positive impact for the job roles falling under this sector.

According to the IMaCS Analysis, the human resource requirement in the Electronic Components segment has been projected to grow from 1,79,000 in 2012 to 8,34,000 in 2022 that is an increment of 6,55,000 resources.

One of the job roles that willreceivea large positive impact of all these trends is that of a Testing and Validation Engineer.
