Minimum Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Previous relevant work experience

The tasks a Civil Engineer, Structural is expected to perform include:

Planning, organizing and supervising construction and repair of bridges, factories, towers and other structures

Receiving instructions and available sketches and data from authority concerned

Undertaking preliminary survey to collect necessary information about soil condition, area available etc.

Collecting further information on drainage, maximum water level, flow of water, neighbouring habitation, permanent course of water, pressure of communication etc. for bridge construction

Calculating and preparing estimated cost and detailed drawings himself or getting it prepared by Architect or Draftsman design

Supervising drilling operations and getting samples of underground geological strata tested

Arranging for men, material, machinery and appliances

Getting work commenced as per scheduled plan under his direct or authorised supervision

Ensuring execution according to specifications and directing preparation and payment of bills

Inviting tenders and getting part or parts of work done by contractors or other specialised persons

Undertaking construction of staff quarters, approach roads, etc., if required

Well versed with the practical application of engineering science and technology

Competent in design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

Adept inarithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications

Ability to identify materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures

Good working knowledge of construction materials

Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions

Working hours

Construction companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company Shift system is not available

Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible
