The tasks a Research Associate is expected to perform include:Supporting research activities in a particular scientific field based on the requirement of the organization

Going through many reports

Analyzing and interpreting data

Creating research reports and documents

Knowledge of the objectives and scope of the work and the importance of keeping within these boundaries

Well-versed with different methods that are used to carry out secondary research and how to select the methods best suited to the work being carried out

Proficiency in obtaining information or data from sources

Adept with the importance of recording data or information accurately for research

Knowledge of the importance of validating data or information before use and how to do this

Proficiency in analyzing and drawing inferences from data or information

Well-versed with the importance of providing rationale for inferences

Adept with types of predictions or conclusions that can be made based on data or information

Proficiency in presenting research and analysis in a structured way

Adept with the current practices in carrying out research

Advanced knowledge in the scientific field

Specific trainings in:Industry/sector/technology

Creation of research reports and papers for publication

For freshers - INR 35,000 to INR 40,000 per month

For candidates with 1-2 years of experience or more - INR40,000 to INR 50,000 per month

Growth in Engineering and R&D of IT Sector in India

Engineering services and R&D is expected to touch USD 50 billion in revenues by 2020. Over 200 product-based multinational companies are known to be sourcing part of their product development requirements from their captive offshore centres in India or from third party vendors in the country. Range of services outsourced includes engineering and designing solutions across diverse industry verticals like telecommunications (30% of revenues), automotive (19%), aerospace (8%), construction, utilities and industrial design and research and development divisions of the leading high-tech companies.

The growth is likely to be in the areas of Business Intelligence (BI), Enterprise Resource Management (ERM), storage, security, BFSI, telecom, healthcare, retail, search engine marketing, mobile applications, social networking, and online gaming.

In the IT exports segment, a large portion of the workforce is currently engineers and MCAs over 80%. The proportion of graduates of science and other streams engaged in software development is expected to show significant increase from about 5% to 10% currently to about 15% to 20%. The Indian IT and ITES Industry would record about USD 220 billion in exports and USD 60 billion domestically by 2022, totaling to about USD 260 billion growing at a CAGR of 12.8%.

Based on the trends witnessed in productivity and the likely growth potential of the IT and ITES industry, it is expected that the industry would result in an incremental employment of about 7.5 million persons directly by 2022. This would definitely lead to an increase in employment opportunities of Research Associates across towns and cities in India.
