Skin Diver

The tasks of a Skin Diver is expected to perform include:

Diving into sea for underwater examination of keel of ship, propellers, pipes, etc. for suspected breakage and leakage and reports defects

Receiving order from supervisors and goes to spot where diving is required

Ascertaining depth of water by putting sounding lines

Judging whether skin diving is feasible

Diving into water by holding on rope attached with heavy weight (sinker) and lowered into bottom of water

Reporting defects to supervisors

Rectifying minor defects

Removing obstructions while under water

Proficient in diving

Ability to examine ship underwater

Knowledge of rectifying minor defects

Ability to communicate through signalling and telephone

Ability to stay underwater for long hours
