Archaeology entails the study of the physical imprints of past civilizations, looking at hundreds of years of human activity through recovery and analysis. Archaeologists may study cultural landscapes, historical sites, architecture and artifacts, tools and biofacts.

As a subject, archaeology is considered as both a part of humanities and a social science.

Undergraduate degrees in Archaeology are offered as three or four year courses, and can be taken as either BA or BSc. Postgraduate degrees include MA, MS and MSc in Archaeology.
